I am sitting in the airport waiting for my delayed airplane as I write this. It amazes me that you can have so many people in one place going to so many different spots in the world - Amsterdam, Texas, New york, Denver, England, Hawaii (me). With all of these people going to so many different places throughout the world I started to think like I was all alone in the big global fishbowl - then, I ran into two people I knew. That completely changed my way of thinking and made me realize that it really is a small world after all.
Today was a quickie - how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop. This was a question that had perplexed me since childhood, so I sent out to discover it's answer. I was astounded, over 230 (video to follow soon).
A friend asked me how does that belong on the list as it does not carry the same weight as say - spending the day blind. And yes he is right to an extent. The goal of the list is to step outside of my comfort zone, to do things and experience things I normally wouldn't do and have fun at the same time. You would be amazed at the amount of concentration it takes to count off all the tootsie pop licks. So while finally finding the solution to the age old tootsie pop question may not bring about world peace, it sure does put a smile on my face while I figure out what will. :)

Day 4/5
The list is coming along. As I get more and more organized I feel more and more like I can actually do this. I am not going to lie, I have had a ton of moments of fear and frustration - plenty of "what in the hell was I thinking...1000??!!!! thoughts." Yesterday I enjoyed a delicious authentic Greek lunch of "Gyros" with two good friends, (I can't believe I never have tried Greek food before) It was a mix of beef and lamb. I could not stop thinking about the scene in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" when the family is informed that the boyfriend does not eat meat so they compromise and say, "OK! I'll make Lamb." I also got another Blog going for another business venture - Grannie Gore. More on Grannie Gore later :)
Today I took on a physical challenge - going up and down the SBCC stadium steps on my hands and feet, ala, Spider Man Crawl. There are 84 steps total. I have a whole new appreciation for Spider Man, man going up was not that bad, but going down... sooo hard. It was a great challenge and I think I may keep at it and see if I can work up to 10 non stop by the end of the year.
One thing I have really enjoyed about this challenge is that I notice it does get me to think differently than I would and it does force me about of the everyday routine. So far it is mixing things up and making me explore little things in life that I may not have otherwise. I am excited to see where this takes me as I continue to build momentum. :)

Day 3
Yeaaa, thanks to the three of you who are my first "followers" i know longer feel like I am lonely and rambling to myself in cyber space. Thank You!
I was stressed going into today wondering what I would do... I needed at least one thing to accomplish and my work schedule was packed. I did not have my list organized so I could reference easily - "No I thought, I can't be defeated on only day 3!" When suddenly, fate intervened. I was explaining my dire situation to a friend when she stopped me and said she had to run to the store. "Why?" I innocently inquired. "I need to get tampons," she responded! No sweeter words had ever passed through my ears. Buying tampons for a female friend just so happened to be one of the things on my list. So after much begging and pleading I got her to agree and wait until today and allow me to go and buy her tampons for her! (THANKS FRIEND)!!
I am happy to say the list is now much more organized and after some more planning today I will be really ready to start tackling this challenge head on. Check out what it all looks like so far!

Day 1/2
Wow!!!!! I think I may be in way way over my head! Like so many other things I waited until the last minute to organize my list. And I also greatly underestimated just how long it would take to organize it. I think I must be up to hour 15 right now and I still only have it about 60% organized! I didn't realize just how many things 1000 is when you put it all down on paper! I am realizing I am going to have to dedicate an entire wall to posting up all the pages (pictures to come).
Ok, enough whining. I have never blogged before so please excuse me in advance if I break some unspoken blog rule. Any of you expert bloggers out there, I could use some help/advice on how to better "enhance" my blog.
So far in addition to ripping out a few strands of hair over stress trying to get organized< i have accomplished several things on my list: No alcohol on New Years Eve, starting this blog, Hiking to Saddle Rock, and Creating a Face Book Page for this challenge.
I feel weird typing this out into cyber space with no one following me yet. I hope to be writing to some followers of my blog by the next post.
Until then, may this quest of mine serve as a reminder to Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)
