Why Positive Thinking Is Not The Answer

There is a huge misconception about positive thinking - it's been sold almost as this idea that if all you do is think positive then life will work out perfectly.

If you think thinking positive is going to solve all your problems, then you got a problem.

Positive thinking is important and boy does it sure help brighten up a cloudy day, but relying solely on it to change what needs to be changed ain't gonna cut it.

If you were in the middle of winter, freezing cold temperatures, whiteout conditions, you wouldn't go outside in your swimsuit and chant for 60 minutes, with a smile on your face, "there's no snow, there's no snow!"

Assuming you survive the 60 minutes of Positive Thinking vs Mother Nature you may quickly realize that the only way to change your current circumstances is if you take actions to change them.

Listen. You got one shot at right now. If positively wishing things away hasn't worked yet, it's time for you to step up to the plate and start swinging for the fences.

A few ways you can do that:

#1 Ask yourself, "When you have been able to achieve success in the past, what exactly did you do?"

#2 Start working with a mentor/coach. Utilizing the guidance and expertise of someone who has been there, done that, and helped 100's of other people do the same is the sure way to solve your problem. You and I can chat about that in more detail by clicking this link.

#3 Focus on the future vs the right now. Often we get so caught up/obsessed, with our problems, that we completely miss the potential that is existing just beyond the horizon.

#4 Journal it out. Write about what is going on, but write as if you were an observer and you are the person you are observing. What is going on from this perspective? What advice would you give to yourself as an observer?

There's a home run hitter inside of you.

Today is your day - it is time to step up to the plate.

The Three Big Mistakes People Who Want to Live Great Lives Make

Every day I speak with people who want more out of life. And every day I speak with people who are unsure why they do not have everything they want.

Often times people fall under the hypnosis that living a great life is as easy as being positive all the time.

"Jesse, you don't understand, I think positive thoughts. I say my prayers.  I express gratitude constantly.  Why I am not getting the results I want in life?"

As they say: If it was that easy everyone would do it.

Unfortunately, it isn't always that easy and to live what one would consider a great life (note the term "great life" is subjective as I believe it is defined on an individual basis) there are some things we typically need to do and some we need to avoid doing.

Recently I recorded a short training on "Three of the Big Mistakes People Who Want to Live Great Lives Make.'  These three big mistakes are mistakes I have seen many people who want to live great lives make.

I wanted to share them with you so that if you are making any of these mistakes you can avoid them in the future, correct course, and also bring it to the attention of the people you care about the most if you see them making any of these three mistakes.

You can watch the training in the video below.  Or you can click this link to go and watch it in youtube.

If you have any questions about what is discussed in this training video, please leave them in the comments below.

I hope you found value watching "The Three Big Mistakes People Who Want to Live Great Lives Make."

 Carpe Diem,

 Jesse

Your Time is a Gift

I have been thinking a great deal about "time" the last few weeks.  I find it amazing that so many of us, myself included, repeatedly squander this most precious of resources.

It is one of the great ironies of our existence - when we are alive we always seem to be in a hurry; always wanting the time to pass.  We future pace ourselves so we can get to the next item on our agenda, the next vacation, the next day off from work, the next big event, and so on.

Yet when we are at the end of our lives we inevitably wish we had more time.  Why?

If only we could adopt that end of life perspective now, in the present, so that we can truly treasure each moment for the gift that it is.

How much would that perspective shift change our lives?
I once gave a speech for a Toastmasters competition.  My speech was on time.  The below is a recording of one of my practice sessions.  I share this video with you in hopes that the message contained within connects with you and inspires you to make the most of your time.
Carpe Diem,

Jesse

P.S.

If after watching this video you find yourself with wanting to make better use of your time and eliminate some of the things that are holding you back in life, you and I must talk!
